Today we are happy to announce four new additions to our family, well our family of chillies that is. As luck would have it our order of chilli seeds have arrived on the same day. Our new chillies for our garden in Fuerteventura are:
- Bhut Jolokia
- Moruga Brainstrain
- Rocoto Roja
The Bhut Jolokia have been planted up in our outdoors propagator this morning and the remainder will be planted later after we finish work, and after our post work windsurf session, obviously! The Bhut Jolokia seeds are our second batch after the first set of seeds failed to germinate, those that did suffer from damping off. I guess the pots were too big and the soil too damp, lesson learned. The Bhut Jolokia is one of the hottest chillies around, and was once the hot chilli ever grown, the heat of the Bhut Jolokia chilli can reach upto 100000 scoville units, that’s over four times hotter than Tabasco sauce, that’s a seriously hot chilli, so I’m looking forward to see these plants come to fruit. I’ve never tasted a Bhut Jolokia chilli but from what I have read they make a fantastic chilli sauce ingredient. The picture of the Bhut Jolokia below comes by way of Wikipedia.
